Group Meeting: The children made a list of Mo Willems characters that we have met so far. I think the Pigeon has been the favorite. I showed the children how easy it is to draw Pigeon and several children tried during play time. We have put their drawings up for display. I think it's safe to say, that everyone has become a Mo Willems fan.
Story: I read The Duckling Gets a Cookie. Duckling asks politely for a cookie and receives it. Pigeon wants to know why he doesn't get a cookie and puts on quite a show telling Duckling about all of the times he has asked for something. At the end, Duckling gives the cookie to Pigeon. Ask your child to tell you why.
We also read Knuffle Bunny which was loaned to us from a child in the class.
Small Group: The children used unit cubes to measure Pigeon, Duckling, Elephant, and Piggie character pictures. We compared their sizes.
Large Group: The children played Animal Action. This is a movement activity on a CD. The children act like the animals in the song.
Snacks: The morning class had blueberry Nutrigrain bars and milk brought by Hudson. The afternoon class had green beans, carrots, dip, and milk brought by Leah F. Thank you!
Thank you to the parents and children who allowed us to borrow their Mo Willems books. I wish we would have had time to read them again!
