Group Meeting: Yesterday, our story was Little Cloud by Eric Carle. At group meeting today, I showed the children how to make the clouds using white finger paint. At free play, the white paint was available to them if they wanted to try.
Story: The Eric Carle story that I read today was Slowly, Slowly Said the Sloth. A sloth is a very slow moving animal. In this story, the sloth hangs from a tree and moves only to eat. He stays on the same branch morning and night, even in the rain. The other animals ask him why he is so boring, slow, quiet, and lazy. The sloth thinks about it and comes up with an answer. Ask your child to tell you what it is.
Small Group: The children practiced making the letter A on the wet, dry, try boards. A's can be difficult because of the diagonal lines. We are practicing!
Large Group: After reading about the slow sloth, the children moved to a song by Hap Palmer called "The Elephant". In this song, the elephant moves slowly, but when it sees a tiger or mean hunter, it runs quickly. The children had to listen to the tone of the music to decide if they should be moving fast or slow. Here's an interesting note. This song is sooooo simple. The music moves slow and then fast. But, the children LOVED it. They asked me to play it again and again. Sometimes simple is best.
Snacks: The morning class had granola bars and juice brought by Parker. The afternoon class had Bunnie grahams and juice brought by Campbell. Thank you!
