Group Meeting: Yesterday, our story was Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, by Mo Willems. Today, we tried to think of other things that we shouldn't let the Pigeon drive. We brainstormed a list of things such as a train, airplane, cement truck, garbage truck, etc. We used these ideas at small group time.
Story: Our Mo Willems book for today was The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog. Pigeon has found a hot dog and is very excited about eating it. However, a little duckling comes along and tells him that he has never had a hot dog. The duckling wonders what it would taste like. He asks Pigeon many questions about his hot dog. Pigeon begins to feel that Duckling would like to eat the hot dog. He tells the Duckling that it is his, he found it first, and that's it! But the duckling has an idea. Ask your child to tell you what happens next.
Small Group: The children took their ideas from Group Meeting and drew a picture of something that they did not want to let the Pigeon drive. We will put these pictures into a book and take turns bringing it home.
Large Group: The children played catch with a balloon. This is a good way to practice throwing and catching because the balloon is so light. It won't roll or bounce away if dropped. After throwing and catching, they tapped it back and forth, trying not to let it hit the ground.
Snacks: The morning class had cheese Ritz bitz and juice brought by Luca. The afternoon class had Wheat Thins and milk brought by Chloe D. Thank you!
