March is Reading Month!

Group Meeting:  I announced that March would be reading month at Redeemer.  I told the children that during story time, I would be reading books from some of my favorite author/illustrators.  I have also challenged the two classes to try to read 1000 books at home by the end of the month.  All of this information is included in a note that was sent home today.  Please contact me if you have any questions.

Story:  This week, I will be reading books by Mo Willems.  Mr. Willems is known for books about Pigeon, Knuffle Bunny, and Elephant and Piggie.  Today, I read Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus.
At the beginning of this story, the bus driver asks us to watch his bus while he is away.  He tells us to not let the Pigeon drive the bus.  As soon as he leaves, Pigeon appears.  He asks if he may drive the bus.  He pleads, begs, and tries to bribe us into letting him drive the bus.  At the end of the story, the bus driver is back and is pleased that we didn't let the Pigeon drive the bus.  However, Pigeon has another idea.  Ask your child to tell you what it is.

Small Group:  We didn't have small group time today.  Instead, we did "10 minute switch".  Every 10 minutes, I would tell the children that they had to switch to a new play area.  I did  this because some children were kind of in a rut as far as playing in the same area day after day.  Hopefully, this helped them try some new things and remember that there are many choices of play.

Large Group:  The children participated in an obstacle course.  They had to crawl through a tunnel, jump through a few hoops, and balance on several stepping stones.

Snacks:  The morning class had cheese and cracker Handi-snacks and juice brought by Jordyn.  The afternoon class had grahams and juice brought by Mason.  Thanks!
