Group Meeting: Yesterday, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Today, I showed the children how Eric Carle made the pictures for this book. Mr. Carle uses painted tissue paper and cuts the shapes that he needs to create the caterpillar, butterfly, and other pictures. I told the children that we had put tissue paper in the art center if they would like to try to make their own caterpillar. We have been receiving many books from home and are trying to read as many as we can. Eric Carle has so many books, we'll do our best!
Story: I read Little Cloud. This is a book about clouds in the sky and how they seem to change into shapes that we find familiar. Little Cloud becomes a sheep, airplane, clown, tree, etc. At the end, Little Cloud joins the other clouds and together they create rain. In this book, Mr. Carle uses white finger paint to create the pictures.
Small Group: The children retold the story from yesterday using flannel board shapes.
Large Group: The children put cotton balls (clouds) onto the parachute. We lifted the parachute to try to get the clouds into the air. We counted how many times we could move the parachute together.
Snacks: The morning class had a Goldfish/marsh mellow mix and milk brought by Lucie. The afternoon class had Goldfish and juice brought by Gavin. Thank you!
