Music Making

Group Meeting:  We are going to start a new study about music making.  There will be a note in your child's backpack today to give you an idea of what we will be learning. The children made of list of everything that they know about music.  We will add to that list as we explore new ideas.

Story:  I read Abiyoyo.  This is a story that we read back in the fall when we were doing our tree unit.  The children were excited to hear it again.   They all know the story and should be able to tell you the major details.  One of the reasons I read it is because of the music.  Ask your child to tell you what music does to Abiyoyo.

Small Group:  I read tongue twisters to the children to see if they could pick out the words that had the same beginning sounds.  An example would be: A bug bit a beetle and the beetle big the bug back.

Large Group:  After our discussion about music, the children danced with scarves to different types of musical numbers.  We danced to jazz, polka, samba, lullaby and a march to name a few.

Snacks:  Both classes had the same snacks today, grahams and juice.  They were brought by Grace and Leigha.  Thank you!
