Group Meeting: The children turned in a lot of reading papers today. We are very close to our goal. We need 50 more books by tomorrow. We were feeling so confident that we decided to take a vote on flavors of ice cream for Thursday. The four favorites were chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and mint chip. Of course, we will need chocolate syrup and sprinkles as well.
Story: We enjoyed another Pete the Cat book today. It was Pete the Cat and His Groovy Buttons. Before we could start this book, we needed to talk about what the word groovy means. Pete's favorite yellow shirt has four groovy buttons on it. One of the buttons pops off. Did Pete cry? Goodness, no. How many buttons are left? The children learn simple subtraction with this story. We also learn that buttons come and buttons go, but it's all good.
Small Group: The children had to remember the story from yesterday to put colored shoes in the correct order. First, Pete's shoes were white. What happened next?
Large Group: We were hoping to be outside this week, but the snow this morning made everything damp again. We stayed indoors and created an obstacle course.
Snack Time: The morning class had Nilla Wafers and juice brought by Aidan. The afternoon class had Scooby snacks, mini Oreos, and juice brought by Lily. Thank you!
